Researchers say that cooking in cast iron can enriches the iron content of foods. It can even aid in correcting iron deficiency. On top of taking iron rich food, cooking in a cast iron pan is a natural way to boost our body with iron contents. Also it is an alternative to toxic Teflon Non Stick pans. How to season a new Cast Iron Dosa Tawa
Soak new Tawa in hot water for 5 minutes to remove materials used for covering it during making/packaging
Rinse the Dosa Tawa with dishwasher soap or liquid and a metal scrubber. Scrub thoroughly, wash and dry completely.
Add 2 tsp of vegetable oil, preferably Gingely oil, and 2 tsp of salt to the Tawa. Accommodate the quantity of oil and salt according to the size of the Tawa.
Spread the mixture throughout so that it is evenly spread over the entire Dosa Tawa completely. Leave it as it is for a day or two.
Scrub the Tawa again to remove any dirt on itand wash
Soak the Tawa in rice starch or rice washed water for 2 days
Take it out from the water, leave it for some time
Wash it, heat it and your Tawa is ready to use
For longer and better usage of the Tawa, follow these too..
Do not wash the Tawa with soap every time after use. Apply some oil and cover it, keep it overnight and wash with water.
Before using it, heat the Tawa and wipe it with a dry cloth or tissue.
Make sure that the Tawa is hot and seasoned before pouring dosa batter so that it work as non-stick Tawa
